TEACHER & FACILITATOR
Rashad is a seminary-trained faith leader who has served numerous congregations in Boston, MA and New York, NY. He graduated in 2015 from Boston University: School of Theology with a Master of Divinity degree; and also in 2017 from Union Theological Seminary with a Master of Sacred Theology. His Master’s thesis was titled: “Mississippi Goddam!: A Brief History of Black Liberation and Revolutionary Violence from Slave Insurrections Through the American Civil Rights Movement.”
Over the last 20 years, Rashad has served communities of faith as a music minister, as a preacher and teacher, as an advocate, and as a pastoral care provider. In addition to worship planning and ministry work, Rashad has worked to galvanize faith communities toward political engagement and social action.
Most recently Rashad served as the Pastoral Lead for the racial justice and LGBTQIA+ ministries at Marble Collegiate Church (New York, NY). Under his leadership, Marble curated an anti-racism resource guide, instituted staff training around racial microaggressions & harassment, and hosted numerous racial justice dialogues featuring several of the greater NYC area’s most brilliant and committed advocates and professors.
